I thoroughly enjoy walking with others through this thing called life. I believe everyone is doing their best with the information they have and therapy is one of the ways to gain perspective and tools to better navigate life’s challenges and transitions. Change and growth can be uncomfortable and overwhelming, so I value meeting my clients where they are, being trauma-informed, and being an emotionally safe space to process thoughts and restore healing. As a new mother myself, I have a newfound passion for working with children and parents, helping to form meaningful connections. I utilize a combination of approaches and modalities to help my clients develop and build upon skills used to manage and cope with trauma, anxiety, depression, and life transitions including using strength based approach, focusing on unconditional positive regard, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and mindfulness practices.
I graduated from Indiana State University with my Bachelors in secondary English teaching and after some career exploration as a high school teacher and intellectual disabilities professional, went on to get my Masters in Social Work, recently graduating in May 2022 and receiving my license as a Licensed Master Social Worker shortly thereafter in July. Though I am a new graduate, I have years of both professional and lived experience in the mental health and addiction fields. Areas of speciality are adult men and women with addictions, anger management, and mood/personality challenges. I am dedicated to growing in my practice through extensive training, research, supervision, and self-reflection.
Addiction is strongly linked to a history of trauma, and other mental health issues. Addiction is not just about substances, process addictions like gambling, electronics, and even food are real, and they're all very treatable. The opposite of addiction is connection. Anger is a secondary emotion that often masks deeper, significant underlying issues. This is true for children as well as adults. Anger is often an easier feeling to express than pain or sadness, but anger isn't your only option. Learn to express your emotions in a healthy way.

Mood and personality disorders can be confusing and difficult to manage. When we don't feel like ourselves, we often struggle with internal conflicts and shame. It doesn't have to stay this way, you can develop a sense of control over your own state of mind, and find calm and stability. When you feel a sense of internal safety, you are much more capable of managing your day to day life, relationships, and working towards your future goals.
We often think of trauma as a big and specific event like an attack or near death experience, but in the past two decades, we've learned that trauma effects come from all different kids of life events. Any time we experience too much for too long, or too much when we're too young to process it, our brain struggles to organize the information and it can lead to triggers and a variety of mild to severe mental and physical health concerns. If you feel that your reactions don't make sense, it's worth getting help.
When we experience chronic stress during childhood, our system may use dissociation as a way to cope, and for many people, it begins to interfere with life as we get older. Dissociation is a survival and coping mechanism that we all use, but when we get stuck in this survival mode, we begin to feel chaotic, or even self-destructive. Chronic dissociation is a symptom of unresolved trauma that is locked in our nervous system, and can feel trapped or stuck.
